Determine the amount of sunlight on a stream or lake and the heat it creates by estimating the amount of surrounding overhead vegetation. It uses permanent points or transects to calculate the relative density of plant growth above and surrounding the sampling site. Obtain the percent of overhead area not covered by the canopy. Includes: mirror with 37 grid intersections forming 24 squares. 3 x 3 x 1” walnut case with instructions attached to the lid, it includes a leveling bubble to ensure accurate readings. (Use convex version for a larger sample size, use concave version for a smaller sample size.)
